WOOD FLOWER

Creation of handcrafted lamps in wood and bioplastic, Bédée (35)

Olivier tells us how his desire to combine wood with light gradually shaped what is now his profession.

Tell us your story, how did your vocation come to you?

I have always loved creating with my hands, working with natural materials and designing useful and aesthetically pleasing objects. The idea of making lamps came about while searching for a way to combine wood with light, using a handcrafted and environmentally friendly approach.
Little by little, I developed my own models, until it became my main activity.

How would you describe your style, your artistic approach, in a few words?

A clean, natural, modern and warm style. Simple lines, durable materials, and attention to quality.

What themes or subjects inspire you most in your work?

I draw a lot of inspiration from nature, organic forms, and the desire to create a soft and soothing atmosphere through light.

How do you work?

I work in my workshop in Brittany. Each lamp is handmade, in small batches.
The bases are made of solid white ash, a local and sustainable wood. The lampshades are printed in PLA, a plant-based bioplastic, which I design and print myself.
Each piece is assembled, tested, and finished by hand. The lamps operate via a 5V USB cable and are CE certified.

Tell us about your daily life, your constraints, your joys, your successes…

I manage everything myself: design, manufacturing, testing, assembly and shipping. It's a comprehensive job, sometimes demanding, but very rewarding.
Seeing my lamps go to customers who appreciate their aesthetics and ambiance is what motivates me the most.

Do you have a message you'd like to share, or anything else you'd like to say?

I want to offer durable, locally made products, using materials chosen for their quality and low environmental impact.
Each lamp is designed to last, to be both useful and decorative.
