LAURE FERRANDO

"I like that these everyday objects offer movement and drape, creating a feeling of gentleness."

LAURE FERRANDO

Ceramic artist, Ribagnac (24)

Laure Ferrando shares with us her attraction to volumes, her work with clay in a sustainable approach, throughout the creative process.

Tell us your story, how did your vocation come to you?

A ceramic artist with a degree in Fine Arts from the Sorbonne University, I set up my studio in Ribagnac, Dordogne, in 2019. I was quickly drawn to three-dimensional forms, and clay became my preferred medium. With the desire to develop more sculptural pieces, I completed the "Creator in Ceramic Arts" training program at the European Institute of Ceramic Arts (IEAC) in Guebwiller in 2023.

How would you describe your style, your artistic approach?

My work offers decorative touches for chic and contemporary interiors. Each piece is unique and signed, entirely handmade in my ceramics studio. My collections of decorative objects and tableware are glazed with glazes developed through my personal research in the studio. I also enjoy sharing my experience through workshops and individual or group classes.

What themes or subjects inspire you most in your work?

My work is inspired by nature, but also by women. My decorative and tableware collections are adorned with frills and ribbons in a very feminine and sensual style. I like to find movement and drape in these everyday objects, creating a sense of softness. The glazes that coat my ceramics are matte, silky, and buttery.

How do you work?

All pieces are handmade in my workshop in the Dordogne region of France. I use high-quality materials such as stoneware and porcelain, ensuring their durability and careful attention to their origin. Similarly, the supports and frames for the paintings are entirely made by French partners.

Tell us about your daily life, your constraints, your joys, your successes…

As both an artist and a ceramic craftswoman, I enjoy dividing my time between creative moments and more intense periods of producing functional pieces. This alternation allows me to find balance and take the time to renew my creative energy by developing new projects.
