LEONCE

LEONCERAMICS

Ceramicist, PARIS (75)

LeonCe shares with us its values and approach, respecting the time needed for artisanal and conscious production.

Tell us your story, how did your vocation come to you?

At 20, I studied Art History and did a little clay sculpture. I then became a photographer, and at the same time, I took up modeling again and haven't stopped since.

How would you describe your style, your artistic approach, in a few words?

I create ceramic objects in white stoneware, in a contemporary style, with organic shapes.

What themes or subjects inspire you most in your work?

I feel influenced by artists like Jean Harp, Valentine Schlegel, André Borderie,..., architecture and design from the 50s and 60s. Nature also inspires me, particularly the Breton coastline, which can be found in my sculptures and photos.

How do you work?

I create ceramic objects, in white chamotte stoneware. They are assembled by hand, in an approach that respects the time it takes to create a unique, handcrafted object.

Tell us about your daily life, your constraints, your joys, your successes…

I also work freelance as a photographer-author, on the same themes of Nature, the Sea and respect for the environment.

Do you have a message you'd like to share, or anything else you'd like to say?

Handmade items allow for unique, different, durable pieces, and natural materials are better for the Planet – a lifestyle to adopt!
