I chose to draw the silhouette of these two young characters directly on a page from War of the Buttons . The text of the novel, visible below the drawing, anchors the work in a joyful nostalgia, evoking the games and mischief of youth.

The use of the ballpoint pen on the yellowed paper of the book reinforced the spontaneity of the captured moment. The silhouettes are rendered with a lightness that contrasts with the density of the pen lines, suggesting movement and childlike curiosity – perhaps they are observing the enemy or the world through imaginary binoculars.

It is a work that fuses contemporary design with the old-fashioned charm of the book as an object.
