ILLUSTRATOR, TOULOUSE (31)

The artist reveals his art of blending digital and traditional techniques, where precision meets instinct.

Tell us your story, how did your vocation come to you?

I graduated from a Parisian school of applied arts and the Versailles School of Landscape Architecture. Today, as a landscape designer and illustrator based in Toulouse, I express my creativity and passion for drawing and botany under the name 'Charlotte Ronfort Illustration'

How would you describe your style, your artistic approach, in a few words?

I develop a light, airy, gentle, and poetic style. I draw the poetry of my images from the smallest details of nature, and I love to make colors vibrate, reminiscent of air and sky. My illustrations often evoke the invisible movements of the wind, beings, and things light and weightless.

What themes or subjects inspire you most in your work?

My graphic universe is inspired by what I love: the plant world, the small fauna of the woods, childhood memories of playing outdoors.

How do you work?

I imagine and create my illustrations in my studio in Toulouse. I experiment with both digital and traditional techniques, each offering me different pleasures and graphic possibilities. Drawing on a graphics tablet allows me a very precise and meticulous approach to lines and colors, while my work with gouache and ink encourages me to create in a more spontaneous and instinctive way.

Do you have a particular technique, a specific expertise? Without revealing all your secrets, have you developed your own methods and techniques?

In order to obtain very fine shapes without losing the momentum of the gesture, I use in my gouache illustrations a kind of stencil, made by hand with masking tape.

Tell us about your daily life, your constraints, your joys, your successes…

I am currently focusing my work on learning gouache. For me, it's about mastering a new technique, new tools - paper, brushes, ink, paint... - They are like wild animals to be tamed.

Do you have a message you'd like to share, or anything else you'd like to say?

My graphic universe appeals to both children who love a breath of fresh air and adults who appreciate the beauty of the living world.
