Multidisciplinary artist, MONTROUGE (92)

Laura reveals how a "creative accident" became her unique artistic expression, enriching her practice through experimentation.

Tell us your story, how did your vocation come to you?

I am a self-taught artist whose passion for creation manifested itself from a very young age. From childhood, I felt the need to express my full creativity through various personal projects, exploring shapes, materials, and playing with colors.
After moving to Paris in 2015, I spent many hours in museums and was completely inspired by the city's artistic atmosphere.
From Kupka to Magnelli to today's emerging artists, my influences are numerous and varied.
Travel, architecture, design, and music play an essential role in my artistic process.

How would you describe your style, your artistic approach, in a few words?

I explore a variety of mediums – from paper to canvas, ceramics to textiles, including wood, leather, and metal – with the aim of creating works that are both radiant and poetic. The spontaneity of the colors I select and the intertwined forms exude a certain rhythm and a comforting, positive energy.

What themes or subjects inspire you most in your work?

Travel, architecture, music

How do you work?

I work mainly in my workshop in Montrouge and also in the workshops of the artisans with whom I collaborate.
I allow myself moments of inspiration - in Paris by strolling around and discovering the current exhibitions, or sometimes outside the city to disconnect.

Do you have a particular technique, a specific expertise? Without revealing all your secrets, have you developed your own methods and techniques?

I am self-taught and began developing my graphic style with acrylic paint and collage. The desire to explore different mediums and incorporate texture into my work stemmed from a creative accident. I was faced with the need to camouflage imperfections or marks that had unexpectedly appeared. Instead of trying to conceal them with paint, I decided to integrate them and transform them into elements in their own right. This approach led me to layer materials and create new visual dynamics. These accidents ultimately enriched my artistic practice, opening up new avenues for experimentation and expression.

Tell us about your daily life, your constraints, your joys, your successes…

I try to turn every constraint into a new challenge. The life of an artist and entrepreneur isn't easy every day, but I chose it and I wouldn't go back for anything in the world.
