A form shaped by fire

Crafted from a piece of plum wood, this piece was turned and then worked using a scorching technique.

Fire has marked the material, revealing its thresholds and opening up a reading in three stages.

Deep black.

Warm brown.

The blonde of the wood left untouched.

The form bears the trace of a passage.

The tension comes from the contrast.

One part appears consumed.

Another still retains warmth.

Then the plum wood reappears, clear, almost silent.

The piece stands in this precise balance: between the trace of fire and the stillness of the material.

Placed alone, it captures the gaze without imposing it.

Its small format invites a close approach.

It works particularly well:

on a light-colored shelf

in a wall niche

on a minimalist console

in dialogue with raking light.

The light gradually reveals its three levels.

The gaze travels from the black to the blonde.

Then returns to the line.
